All About Kay’s Academy of Dance
Our Home ♡
Kay’s Academy of Dance is nestled in the heart of Mukwonago with views of Phantom lake that can be enjoyed from our balconies. While we do have ample parking, a parking loop was designed for convenience and safety during pick up and drop off. We love our community which is why we’ve been in Mukwonago since we first opened our doors 30 years ago. While we may have a new location, our mission and values have not changed.
Our new studio was designed with careful consideration and attention to detail. When you walk through the doors, you will notice the large windows that let in natural sunlight. Each studio has vaulted, high ceilings making them open and spacious. Our floors are the same floors used by the Milwaukee Ballet selected for their beauty and high performance for various dance styles. All studios have observation windows where parents are always welcome and invited to observe.
Over 30 Years of Dancing ♡
At Kay’s, we encourage each individual to grow and thrive in a nurturing environment. Our instructors are caring and passionate about sharing their love of dance with children of all ages and abilities. Our biggest pride is in creating a friendly, fun, family-like atmosphere where students develop grace, self-confidence, and a love for dance. We strive to provide a relaxed, safe, and organized environment to learn and have fun.
Our goal is that each student at our studio feels that they are truly part of our dance family and that they belong. Students will develop their technique, artistry, and creativity by learning important skills and values like self-discipline, teamwork, and responsibility. Dancers can aspire to join our performance teams giving them wonderful experiences and memories they will never forget.
Our school season begins in August and ends in June, concluding with our annual recital. With the exception of our drop-in classes, new students who wish to join must do so in fall in order to perform in the annual recital. Registration for summer classes will begin in April.
Fitness Classes For All
Kay's offers adult barre classes.for all fitness levels. Drop-ins are welcome and punch cards are available for purchase.
Performance Teams
Kay’s Academy of Dance is home to Dancers in Motion and Kids in Motion. These performance groups are traveling dance companies. Each year they perform at events such as Summerfest, State Fair, Great America as well as many other local events. In the past, they have performed in the Gator Bowl, Orange Bowl, and two Sugar Bowl Half-Time Shows, in New York City, on a cruise, and even traveled to Disney World to dance in the Parade of Dreams. Every trip is filled with unforgettable memories.
Dancers in Motion is made up of all students at Kay’s Academy of Dance, where they are trained in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, and Hip Hop. All the members of Dancers in Motion have attained a high level of danceability. Membership is by invitation and a high level of commitment is expected of each team member.

No, we do not have any registration fee.

No, our prices are very low compared to many activities, there is no family discount.

We strongly recommend you purchase your dance shoes at our studio. We will make sure they fit correctly. We sell both new and used shoes.

Yes, annually we have a recital at the beginning of June. Following our summer session, we have a dance showcase.

The June recital is at the Greenwald Performing Arts Center in Mukwonago High School. The Summer Showcase is held at Brooklife Church.

We have 2 performance teams that perform throughout southeastern Wisconsin. Please see our performance team tab.

The Summer Schedule will be released in April each year.

Dance clothing is required, but no specific style or color of clothing.

We use pink ballet shoes for girls, black ballet shoes for boys, black hip hop shoes, tan jazz shoes, tan tap shoes for girls, and black tap shoes for boys.

If you are unable to attend the class for any reason, please contact the studio. You will not pay for the class if you contact us. You are given 5 class credits per year.

No, we do not. We believe dance is an art and each dancer is on their own journey. We believe by providing performance opportunities, not competitions our dancers will gain confidence and skills.

We run our classes like a school year. New classes begin in September and run through the end of May. Our summer session begins in June and runs to the beginning of August.

We take new students in September, when new classes begin. You can register through October 31st. After that, we are working on recital dances so we do not take new students in existing classes.
